Wayne’s Journey
“A new city a new start.” That was the mantra that guided me after I lost my job. I’ve had HIV for quite some time. I got help to manage the viral load, to keep it to a safe level at a clinic in Louisville. When I got to Milwaukee, I was looking for the same. I didn’t know that what I’d find would be so life changing.

Journey
HIV Case Management Services
Getting assigned to Jason as my case manager was the first signal this was going to be different. He asked questions about every aspect of my life. He understood how losing my job and my insurance could impact my life. I felt good about my decision after doubting myself after I moved.

Journey
Medical Care
My doctor here has been treating people with HIV for years. But what mattered as much as my HIV to him were my other conditions, like my high blood pressure, and how he could care for me holistically. This is new to me. Different. Good.

Journey
Pharmacy
I have one place to go for all my medications. I have a doctor in the same building. I am not acclimated to the new city and haven’t made friends yet, but this is giving me hope.

Journey
Behavioral Health Care
A few weeks in, losing my job and relocating to a new city at my age really hit me hard. I was anxious. Stressed. Depressed. Jason referred me to Deshaun, my counselor so while I am working on my health, I can help myself.

Journey
Dental Care
I neglected my teeth for years. It was Deshaun who encouraged me to get help here. I am taking care of myself like never before. I have a team of people looking out for me. It feels amazing.

Journey
Other Services: Food Pantry, Housing Programs, Legal Services and Prevention
This is my journey so far. But I know that if I ever need help with food, need a place to live, need my rights defended or help protecting my partners, I have people on my side who care about me, not just for me.
